Blieskastel
Blieskastel is a city in the Saarland district of St. Wendel with a population of around 23,000.
Blieskastel has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages. It was an important City in the region and had great significance for the Saarland economy. Historic buildings and sights that are reminiscent of this past include Blieskastel Castle, a Renaissance building from the 16th century, and St. Nicholas Church, a Gothic church from the 14th century.
Demographically, Blieskastel, like many cities in Deutschland, is ethnically diverse and has a high proportion of people with a migrant background. Due to its proximity to the border with French and the historical links between the two countries, there is a high proportion of people with a French Mother tongue.
