Nordhausen is a city in eastern Germany and the seventh largest city in the state of Thuringia. It has about 42,000 inhabitants and an area of about 82 square kilometers. Nordhausen has a long and eventful history dating back to the Middle Ages.

In the Middle Ages, it was an important trading town and in the 19th century, the textile industry developed into one of the City's most important economic powers. During the Second World War, Nordhausen was heavily bombed and many historic buildings were destroyed. During the GDR era, the City was an important location for the armaments industry.

Today, Nordhausen is a lively and modern City with a strong economy and a high quality of life. There are numerous shopping opportunities, restaurants and cafés, as well as a wide range of leisure and cultural activities. There are also several universities and technical colleges, as well as an active start-up scene. Nordhausen is also an important transport hub in eastern Germany, with good connections to other cities in the region as well as to Berlin and Leipzig.
