Oranienburg is a City in Brandenburg, Germany. The history of Oranienburg dates back to the Middle Ages, when the City emerged as a trading center and junction of trade routes. Over the centuries, Oranienburg belonged to the Duchy of Prussia and the Kingdom of Prussia, among others. In the 20th century, Oranienburg was an important location for lignite mining and the textile industry.

During the Second World War, Oranienburg was also the location of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, which can be visited today as a museum and memorial.
