Mannheim is the third largest city in the state of Baden-Württemberg and the eighteenth largest city in Germany. The city has about 310,000 inhabitants and is located at the confluence of the Rhine and Neckar rivers.

Mannheim has a long history and was founded in 1606 by Duke Frederick IV of Palatinate-Neuburg. It has a well-preserved old town and many historic buildings and landmarks, including Mannheim Castle, the National Theater and the Jesuit Church.

Mannheim is also an important business location and is home to numerous companies and organizations, including companies in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and automotive industries, as well as the University of Mannheim and the Max Planck Institute for Human Development.

Mannheim also has a rich culture and history, which is expressed in its many museums, theaters, operas and concert halls. It is also known for its music scene, especially in jazz and hip-hop.
