Darmstadt is the fourth largest City in Hesse and is known for its culture, science and technology. One of Darmstadt's most famous sights is Heiligenberg Palace, a castle on a hill overlooking the City that offers impressive views and is now used as a museum and event venue.
A more famous landmark is the Mathildenhöhe, an artists' colony and monument to Darmstadt's Art Nouveau architecture, known for its villas and gardens as well as the Art Nouveau Museum.
Darmstadt is known for its museums and galleries, including the Hessisches Landesmuseum, the Künstlerhaus and the Graphische Sammlung.
Darmstadt is home to the Botanical Gardens, a popular location for relaxing and strolling, and the Rosenhöhe Park, a tall park with a wide variety of plants and an impressive rose garden.
Darmstadt is a city with a rich music and theater tradition, with a variety of theaters and concert halls as well as numerous festivals and events throughout the year. The City is also known for its universities, such as the Technical University of Darmstadt and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, which have a strong presence in fields such as engineering, computer science and design.
